I have so many favorites this year from the red carpet of the Academy Awards. Let’s get started on what I loved. And let’s just assume if some gowns didn’t make this post, then they were either too safe or not my favorites. This year’s best-dressed lists should include at least one of these ladies in the top 10.

Topping my best-dressed list of the night is Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o. The 12 Years A Slave actress wore a beautiful light blue silk Prada gown with pleats along with Prada platform sandals and a Prada raso clutch. She completed the look with Fred Leighton jewels. From her hair and makeup to her dance-a-long with Pharrell Williams during his “Happy” performance, Lupita was the clear winner of the night.

1.  Costume design nominations all revisit the past.

Probably my favorite look of the night was Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. She embraces this season’s peplum trend with silk ribbon wrapped around the burnt orange gown. The back is gorgeous, and I love the minimal accessories. The focal point should be the dress, and she looked effortlessly chic on the carpet last night. (more…)
