More of the best and worst from the Met Gala red carpet.

Of all three gowns, I liked Amber Valetta’s Prada dress the best. I loved the pleating detail on the skirt and the color blocking on the bodice.  The skirt in white rather than black was interesting.  I love that she kept the accessories to a minimum.  I thought Scarlett Johansson’s Dolce & Gabbana gown was fanciful and I loved the gold embroidery and tulle at the bottom, but it wasn’t my favorite look on her.  Christina Ricci allowed the fabric to overwhelm her petite frame in Thakoon.  You can’t really get the full effect of the dress, but I thought the lace and nude underlay was beautiful. In lieu of one of the best music festivals that happened this weekend, I thought I’d show my love for what is quickly becoming the highlight of Coachella and its great music: fashion.  I wish I could’ve been there to see Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Arctic Monkeys, and Florence and the Machine.  Hey, there’s always next year!  Below are some of my favorite celebrities and fashion bloggers in some of the best looks and trends from the desert.

              

Count on Dita Von Teese to bring old Hollywood glamour to the outdoor festival.  Both dresses were amazing!  I love the swirly print on the Moschino Cheap and Chic bubble dress and the tiered ruffle effect paired with the wedges.  The second D&G dress is a bit nautical-inspired with the collar and tie, and you can’t quite tell here, but the print is actually ship steering wheels, anchors, and life preservers.  I love that she ditched the heels and went with navy blue Keds instead. As Julie Andrews so eloquently sung in The Sound of Music, these are a few of my favorite (and worst) things from the red carpet last night. Let’s start with the best, shall we?

Probably my favorite look of the night was Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. She embraces this season’s peplum trend with silk ribbon wrapped around the burnt orange gown. The back is gorgeous, and I love the minimal accessories. The focal point should be the dress, and she looked effortlessly chic on the carpet last night. (more…)
