On Sunday, audiences were treated to one of the biggest music awards shows. Celebrating the heavy hitters and chart toppers, the Billboard Music Awards kicked off in Las Vegas. Celebrities and artists were in full-force at the show and on the red carpet. With tributes to some of the greatest musical artists of all time like Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Adam Yauch, it was truly a star-studded event. While there were a few fashionable moments on the carpet, it wasn’t exactly as thrilling as you’d expect of an awards show that honors the best in music. But I’ll let you be the judge.

Singer Alicia Keys wasn’t my favorite, but I have to admit this is the best I’ve seen her lately on the red carpet. The songstress wore a figure-hugging black Azzedine Alaia Couture gown with Repossi jewelry and Brian Atwood pumps. I loved the hour-glass silhouette and her hair and makeup. Many stars have taken advantage of the completely covered style, and I thought she was sexy and sophisticated without going too vulgar. Jordin Sparks in a lace Diane von Furstenberg frock was pretty demure, but I loved the color. I wish she had gone with a different shoe color in maybe nude or silver to match her David Yurman jewelry. Her side-swept pony kept the look sleek and polished.

In May, fans of film and fashion can always look forward to the Cannes Film Festival on the French Riviera. It’s one of those events celebrities get all glamorous and decked out for on the red carpet. Two days of style and glitz, this was one event that didn’t disappoint. Let’s take a look at my favorites.

I have always admired Diane Kruger’s style. Not bad, considering she doesn’t have a personal stylist picking out her clothes. The teal, Grecian Giambattista Valli gown definitely was one of my favorites. It just moved really well on the carpet, and it was definitely an ethereal stunner for the star. Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto was sweet as any confection in this peplum gown by Michael Angel. I loved her Louis Vuitton clutch and platform sandals. The jeweled-encrusted bodice along with the sweetheart neckline and gathering at the waist really stood out. Eva Longoria abandoned her usual style and went for more dramatic looks and gowns at Cannes. She was amazing in this Marchesa gown. The train was beyond beautiful. I like her style more when she steps out of the box.

TV Upfronts ended today and all the stars from the major television networks and shows were a part of this year’s celebration of what’s to come in primetime.  In addition to coveting their TV style, we got a chance to see our favorite small-screen stars’ carpet style.  Here were some of the looks from the event:

So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deely wore a structured peplum style top and maroon leather leggings by Stella McCartney.  It was a sleek, tailored look, and I loved the neutral color palette paired with the subtle hint of color in the leggings.  This is the best I’ve seen Amy Poehler recently, and although it’s more casual, I thought she looked great.  I love the leather moto jacket and animal print clutch.  I would’ve liked the shoes in black or maybe in leopard just to tie the look together, but she still looked great.  New Girl star Zooey Deschanel was gorgeous in Carven.  I loved the black and white color scheme and opaque tights and how she completed the look with a bold, red lip.

More of the best and worst from the Met Gala red carpet.

Of all three gowns, I liked Amber Valetta’s Prada dress the best. I loved the pleating detail on the skirt and the color blocking on the bodice.  The skirt in white rather than black was interesting.  I love that she kept the accessories to a minimum.  I thought Scarlett Johansson’s Dolce & Gabbana gown was fanciful and I loved the gold embroidery and tulle at the bottom, but it wasn’t my favorite look on her.  Christina Ricci allowed the fabric to overwhelm her petite frame in Thakoon.  You can’t really get the full effect of the dress, but I thought the lace and nude underlay was beautiful. It’s the Oscars of fashion.  No other event puts the biggest names in entertainment and fashion together than the annual Met Gala.  Held in New York to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Museum fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute, the Met Gala boasts some of the best red carpet moments.  This year was no exception!  While some really brought their “A” game to the carpet, others left much to be desired.  Overall, the Vogue-sponsored event was pretty impressive.  There were so many beautiful gowns and fashion that I didn’t know where to start.  Here’s the first half of the looks that left me speechless, some for good reasons…others not so much.

Beyonce was truly the belle of the ball in Givenchy.  Even if Beyonce were not my idol, this dress would still be my favorite of the night.  I thought it was the perfect and classy way to show off her post-baby bod.  The sheer and lace detailing along with the purple feathers are just gorgeous!  I loved that she went simple with her makeup and hair and kept the focus on the dress. I recently moved from Tuscaloosa, AL to finish up my graduate degree.  I admit I wasn’t too thrilled about it. The apartment hunt was by far more stressful than the tons of papers I’ve written and academic studies I’ve read this year.  This summer, I will be working as an entertainment reporter/intern for a newspaper. The 98th annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place on April 28.  Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event, but the real stars were the beauties who attended the Gala.  Below are some of my favorite looks from the red carpet.  Which star made your best or worst dressed list?

Gracing the carpet in one of this season’s biggest trends, the peplum, the Hunger Games star was primed to perfection in red.  In addition to her beautiful Antonio Berardi dress and Lara Bohnic clutch, Elizabeth Banks looked sophisticated and elegant with ringlets framing her face and a bold red lip to match.
