It hasn’t settled in. The entire experience was so surreal. I anticipated having at least three heart attacks, but I feared I might miss Bey’s infamous stanky leg or Hov’s instructional bounce, get your damn hands up, throw your diamonds in the air, etc. So, I dealt calmly with heart palpitations and a flood of emotions and just rocked the hell out with two of my favorite artists–who just happen to make an unstoppable and adorable couple. WED_Runway-598x340How’s this for fashion and tech-savvy? For London fashion week, cameras were used in Topshop’s show to scan models as they stomped down the runway. Remember Diane von Furstenberg’s use of Google glasses during her runway show in September 2012? What about Burberry being the first fashion house to live stream its runway in 2011? And that trend of live-streaming has continued into recent fashion weeks around the world. A surge in social media networking as well as live streams broadcasting the entire runway show online has allowed fashionistas to become immersed in a world that’s not always accessible to small-town girls like myself. With everything going digital, the fashion industry–which at its core is all about what’s new or forward–is determined to not be left behind. (more…)

One word for my must-see TV this week: Prince.

prince-new-girl-600x450The Purple One is set to appear on Fox’s New Girl. The episode entitled “Party Time” will air directly after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2, which is fitting because Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess and her best friend CeCe receive an invitation to a party thrown by the legendary singer and musician at his mansion. That’s certainly one party I wish I was invited to because I’m a HUGE fan of Prince. Of course the episode will be full of laughs as usual because Winston, Schmidt, Coach and Nick try to crash the party.

And Prince isn’t just making a cameo. According to executive producer Brett Baer, Prince is going to be very instrumental in helping Jess and Nick sort through some of their issues. It’s also really refreshing to hear Prince is a big fan of the show as most of us are. He actually contacted the show himself to be a part of it. I’ll be tuning in after the big game, which I’m desperately hoping will result in a win by the Denver Broncos.

Will the cast of New Girl  be a part of your Super Bowl after party?

Beyonce and Jay Z open 2014 Grammys

Just as I predicted in my must-see TV post, 17-time Grammy winner Beyonce opened last night’s show with hip hop mogul Jay Z, singing their hit “Drunk in Love” from Beyonce’s fifth self-entitled studio album. It was quite a steamy duet between the husband and wife power couple, as Beyonce lit up the stage with just a chair and “flashing lights.” Camera action caught Taylor Swift and Sir Paul McCartney jamming along with the crowd as they chanted the popular line from the song–“surfboard.” (more…)

Hermes1The vast mixed-use development of Buckhead Atlanta is well underway after false starts and many delays. The six-block, 8-acre project at Peachtree and East Paces Ferry roads taken over by Oliver McMillan has been redesigned and gone through a series of name changes (formerly The Streets of Buckhead) to attract Atlanta’s diverse residents. Slated to open this summer, there will be new office spaces, retail shops and residential developments that will transform the area into a walkable, urban destination for residents and companies.

“What we’ve done is gone out for best-in-class restaurateurs around the country,” said Oliver McMillan’s Hunter Richardson, who manages Buckhead Atlanta. “We are excited about the diversity of restaurants that we are attracting…what we love about this is within a five-minute walk, you’ll find 10 restaurants.” (more…)

It’s that time of year again—awards season. And once the best in music are crowned on Sunday, January 26 at the Grammy Awards, film fanatics will be tuned in to see if their favorite movies take home the coveted gold trophy. I generally enjoy the Oscars because sometimes seeing those brief clips of a film or the hype surrounding it makes me want to go watch if I haven’t already. While the show can be a drag after the first hour or so, I’m really looking forward to this year because of the following four things:

1.  Costume design nominations all revisit the past.

Here’s a list of my must-see TV shows this week:

The Following

I was a huge fan of this show from its debut right up to the terribly disappointing season finale. But after I saw the season two trailer of a subway attack featuring serial killer Joe Carroll’s new followers donning masks of his face rather than the strange Edgar Allen Poe masks of season one, I was hooked. One year and several victims later, the show picks back up where infamous serial killer Joe Carroll and former FBI agent Ryan Hardy left off. Even though fans were made to believe Carroll died in a fire, we all know the cat-and-mouse games Hardy and Carroll play wouldn’t be nearly as fun without both characters. So I expect to see Carroll’s character return. As for Carroll’s ex-wife Claire, who also was Hardy’s love interest in season one, I think she met her untimely end when she was stabbed in Hardy’s apartment by his deranged ex-girlfriend. But I’m interested to see which characters return (hopefully Emma) and how Hardy will handle the loss of Claire. Most importantly, how will they top some of the cult-like killings from season one? Tune in to Fox’s special premiere episode of The Following on Sunday, January 19 before it settles into Monday night’s primetime roster, starting on January 27. It’ll be killer. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. (more…)
